To infinity and beyond

For my son's third birthday I organized a Toy Story Space Party. Once the theme was decided my imagination started to fly and I decided to make it with a glow-in-the-dark setting. For this I bought some uv-lights and uv-paint (it glows in the dark!), which I used to paint my paper mashe planets. I also brought in some disco lights, a plasma ball and lots of shiny fabrics, some glow-in-the-dark stars, bracelets and small gifts that were used for decorations.

The first course was served from a buffet table designed with a Toy Story theme and it included coctail meatballs, cheese bited and veggies served from silver planets, star shaped sandwiches as well as various snacks served from metal colour dishes.

The second course was ofcourse the space cake, which was served in the glow-in-the-dark party room. The table was covered with black table cloth and decorated with silver dishes, glow-in-the-dark decorations, lava lamps that looked like space shuttles, as well as colourful candies and treats. The walls were covered with black fabricks and decorated with glow-in-the-dark stars. From the sealing I hung some small disco balls as well as the glow-in-the-dark planets that I had crafted in advance.
As the guests arrived they were able to start out with some activity stations: An arts&crafts station where everybody could make their own alien party hat, as well as modify aliens and space ships from modelling clay. The second room included a "Space Ball Pool" where children were able to enjoy space bathing. The room was decorated with a huge disco ball and some disco lights. The third room had an Alien's transformation station, where kids could get face paintings and temporary tattoos from a big green alien...

After visiting all the activity stations and eating our little tummies full of goodies we played some party games and danced.

I also hid some mini disco balls all over the venue, and told the children that they should find their own little "star". The kids were able to take home these disco balls together with some other cute alien shaped party favors, and candy bags, that were handed to them by a real alien as they were leaving home.
